Lucy Pat Redding Curl went to meet her Lord Jesus on February 5th, 2025 at 85 years of age. She lived in Orlando Florida, and is survived by her husband, Bill Curl, and her children Beth Menendez (Pete), Philip Curl (Miriam), Carol Rickman (Mark) and Scott Curl (Crystal). She is predeceased by her brother Rogers Redding and her granddaughter Kalynn Curl, and survived by her brother David Redding. She was a loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to 6 great-grandchildren.
Lucy Pat was born on August 24, 1939, in Louisville, KY, to Dr. George and Mrs. Carolyn Redding. When she was six years old, her parents sacrificially gave her a piano and started her on piano lessons. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown College in Georgetown KY. It was there that she met her husband Bill; they were married November 19th, 1960, and enjoyed an amazing 64 ½ years of marriage. A gifted musician, Lucy Pat was known for her piano playing (often seen accompanying Bill and other musicians), hosting groups at her house, tea parties, and her encouragement to those around her. She taught piano lessons most of her life, and was a college music teacher as well.
She and her husband Bill spent their lives serving their Lord Jesus as pastor and wife, and as missionaries overseas in Great Britain. They were appointed by the International Mission Board as missionaries on October 9th, 1990, and served abroad for 18 years. In everything they did, they loved people well. They made music, taught, encouraged, and cared for others, always as a team. They were often seen riding their signature tandem bicycle through the cities and nearby environs where they served.
An Endowment Fund through the First Orlando Foundation has been established to recognize the heart, passion, and legacy of Lucy Pat Curl and global missionaries who are taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth! Gifts to this memorial fund will be used to support short term mission trips for First Orlando students and young adults to experience the missions environments all around the world.
